We just watched an incredible film, Three Needles. I highly reccommend it to everyone. I especially recommend it for those of you who desire to learn and do more about the AIDS epidemic in our world.

Congrats Scott and Carolyn!

My old friend Carolyn got married yesterday to a wonderful guy- Scott! The wedding was beautiful. It was also an unexpected good-bye. The newly weds are moving to Australia for a year! How exciting for them. Scott has been assigned to a project there and they are mutually ecstatic about the chance to live abroad.

On the way to the wedding yesterday we decided to count the wedding we have been to since I graduated from college. So within the past three years.... we have been to 25 weddings (26 if you count our own!) We have been in 11 of these. And we didn't even begin to count the weddings we have been invited to and not attended. I think this is a little nuts..... Don't get me wrong, we love weddings and it has been an honor to witness so many sacred vows. But people- please... When will the madness stop!

Dog People

Our dog, Peter does indeed think he is a person. This is only one example. He does prefer to have the covers over him as well, but we didn't capture that shot. Since we have no children, I am sure many postings of Peter Peterson will follow this one.
We have recently discovered that we are "dog" people. You know how there are cat ladies? Yeah, we are dog people. I think we are mildly obsessed. We note every dog we see passing by, "Oh, look at that cute friend." We talk to every dog and owner when we are out for walks (which by the way is a great way to actually get to know neighbors). However, we also realized... we just know the dogs names... not the people. What can I say? Dogs are just great companions. They are always excited to see you, you can say whatever you want to them, they run to you when you are crying and lick up your tears, and they provide hours of entertainment with their funny little personalities. I highly recommend a "friend" for every family.

What would you do if I sang out of tune

Now on at 9:00pm and 9:30 M-F!
Again, another show with a touch of reality, a look into history,
and wonderful reflections on family life.

Sicky poo

This is my third week being "under the weather". I have gone from thinking I am pregnant, to realizing it was the flu, to still not feeling quite right as some little bacteria friends decided to continue to party inside me, and now I am done with this.... I dragged myself into the doctor(which I also despise!) and I am on some serious prescriptions. (Imagine the jumbo sized jelly beans x2)
Just a sinus infection, nothing major. I hesitate to really admit I am sick and complain about it, because the past three weeks have made me realize how much I take health for granted. There is nothing severely wrong with me. However, I have had to miss classes, internship hours, social events, and I have barely made it to the gym these past few weeks . For those of you who know me well, you know not being able to be active is really hard on my psyche! I hate it!! I think the one good think being sick does is allow me to realize how important is to take care of myself. It also gives me great empathy for people who live with diseases or conditions that don't go away. How incredibly taxing it must be to live that way. I am so grateful that God has blessed me and my loved ones with generally good health! Maybe he knows I would drive everyone crazy if something severe was ever wrong with me ( I am sure the day will come... so be ready friends!)
My husband keeps telling me that I am paying for not allowing myself to be sick and just stop for a few days three weeks ago. Maybe he is right. I would rather be out and about then at home recuperating unless completely necessary. But now I am home, drugged up (but feeling better!) , and again.... grateful to have a husband who puts up with moans and groans from me at all hours.

Tribute to 80s shows!

This is my all time favorite show. Our dog is actually even named after one of the characters. (You have to be a true Cosby fan to know who Peter was though!) Talk about a show that has it all- clean comedy that actually makes you bust out laughing, social commentary, great music, and it was on long enough to watch the kids grow up right along with you!

Great Day

Despite being caught in a sort of mini monsoon on the way to my internship this morning I had a great day! I was able to go on my first visit and assist in interviewing a family going through the international adoption process. (For those of you who don't know I am currently interning at Children's Hope, an international adoption agency ). This interview was the first of many visits to complete a home study. Although I didn't get to do much of the interviewing, just being there was so confirming to me! I sat for nearly 2 hours and was just fascinated by both the Social Worker who was conducting the assessment, and the couple awaiting adoption. There are still other avenues to explore, but after all this schooling and decisions......it gave me such a peace to feel so joyful about the career that lies ahead of me in a year!

PS I am still trying to figure out how to use this blogger....
